What is FIRST Tech Challenge?

FIRST Tech Challenge is not simply about building robots, besides, teams will participate in the challenge to design, build, program and operate robots to compete against each other according to alliances. Robot kits can be used year after year and can be programmed using many different levels of the Java language.

In addition to designing and building robots, teams also participate in fundraising, branding, communications, and community outreach to win various awards.

Teams will be guided by coaches and mentors, and students can develop STEM skills and practice mechanical design principles, while also cultivating teamwork and innovation skills. new - creative.

Each season will conclude with regional tournaments and the FIRST championship in the US.

The 2019-2020 season has nearly 700 thousand contestants from more than 100 different countries.

What is FIRST Tech Challenge Vietnam?

FIRST Tech Challenge Vietnam is the first official FTC tournament held in Vietnam under the copyright of FIRST in the United States with the desire to create a technology playground to encourage the spirit of learning, creativity, social concerns of Vietnamese students, while inspiring and motivating students to study, practice, and apply new technologies, contributing to building high-quality resources to meet the needs of industrial revolution 4.0.

FIRST Tech Challenge Vietnam is pioneered and organized by the team of FPT University with the participation and support of the Vietnamese engineering community, technology experts, and young people from FIRST's network in Vietnam. South and globally.

Subjects participating in the competition

Be students across the country (from grade 7 to grade 12 according to the 2023-2024 school year) or be students in any training units nationwide.

Each participating team will form a group of 3 to 15 people with a mentor who is a teacher or any other professional.

Group members are encouraged to contribute any skills you already have, such as programming, electronics, metalworking, graphic design, web design, rhetoric, videography, etc. Guide students and help them gain skills and confidence in a safe, engaging environment.

Game rules and competition methods

Teams participating in the competition will have to design robots capable of drawing, doing creative work with humans, and even robots must know how to "play" with paper airplanes created by the teams themselves.

Teams participating in the competition will go through 4 rounds: Preliminary round, Knockout round, Semi-final round and Final round.

Qualification Round: 2-3 incoming teams are paired into 1 Alliance, specifically for each round, 1 team will be randomly paired with 1-2 other teams to become an Alliance. course. Each team will have 4 - 5 matches in the Preliminary round. Teams will be randomly assigned to Qualification Matches. The schedule for these matches, including pairings and Union colors, will be announced prior to match day.

Elimination Round: In Elimination Matches, Alliances compete according to a ranked structure, with seed #1 facing seed #4 and seed #2 facing seed #3 , to determine the Alliance to advance to the Semi-finals. In Elimination Matches, Teams will receive a win, loss or draw instead of Ranking Points. Each pair of matches will be played to determine which Alliance continues to compete, the first team to win two matches, and tied matches will be replayed until one Alliance wins two matches. The number of teams in the Knockout round will be based on the number of teams at the competition. If there are 21 or more teams in the competition, Knockout Matches will have 3 teams/League. If there are 20 teams or less, each Alliance will have 2 teams.

Semi-Finals :In the Semi-Finals, seed #1 faces seed #4 and seed #2 faces seed #3, with the winner of each semi-final becoming the red and blue Alliance in the Grand Final conclude.

Final Round :The 2 winning alliances in the Semi-Final Round will continue to compete for the championship.
